...calls believers to return to their first love and foundational relationship with God, based on Jacob's return to Bethel in Genesis 35:1–15.
Key Themes of the Sermon
The First Encounter: Bethel represents the place where Jacob first met God and made a vow while fleeing from Esau (Genesis 28, Genesis 35:1).
Spiritual Drift: Over time, worldly cares and compromises can pull believers away from their initial spiritual fervour and closeness to God
Cleansing and Renewal: Just as Jacob told his household to get rid of foreign gods, purify themselves, and change their clothes, returning to God requires repentance and putting away idols.
Restoration: God graciously calls His people back to restore fellowship, reminding them of His faithfulness despite human failure.
